A message from me

Hi! My name is Taija Sta. Maria and I play Division 1 NCAA basketball at Fresno State University in Fresno, California. I am from Vaughan, Ontario, and completed my high school education at Crestwood Preparatory College in Toronto. Together, with the Crestwood Lions basketball team, I was an OSBA champion, and 2x all-star. I have also represented Team Ontario nationally, and Team Canada at international FIBA events.  I was also humbled to be chosen as Team Ontario’s flag bearer at the 2022 Canada Summer Games.  

Growing up, I played in multiple Filipino tournaments and leagues, and am always looking to give back to the community while I am home. The opportunities basketball has given me have been endless. I am grateful for the game, and all the joy and memories it has brought my family and I. What you put into the sport is what you will get out of it, and I’d love to share my story through basketball to spread my love for the game. It has helped me experience so much, and I hope to inspire young girls to do the same.
